[ILUG] File Managers & Hardy Heron

[ILUG] File Managers & Hardy Heron

Ive moved to Hardy Heron Ubuntu and use KDE - all pretty good so far.

Am I alone in thinking that it is getting a bit bloated or over
featured? This stuck me as I went searching for a file manager. There
is just screeds and screeds of menu options!!

Is there a sensible way of managing Ubuntu so that I could delete a load
of the options that I will never use? Can Synaptic or Apt do this in
some way?

I had been using Dolphin which seems to have vanished possibly replaced
with Thumnar which is pretty basic. There is of course Konqueror but Im
not sure that it is a great file manager. I still have fond memories of
XTGold (anyone remember that?). Im about to give Endeavor II as LXF
have given it a hot pick accolade. Question is is there anything better
out there?

David
