probably a simple fix might be to run "sudo dpkg-reconfigure 
xserver-xorg". That should be able to auto-detect your screen size.
Most of the default answers should be ok, make sure the keyboard layout 
is correct though.

Otherwise, you will need to manually edit the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file.
