I would google for "lenovo system update".

I think in practice you would have to update your BIOS under Windows.
But I doubt if that is the problem.
More likely the CMOS battery is exhausted.
But that doesn't sound very likely either from your symptoms.

Have you ever said what actually happens when you power on the machine?
Do you get any beeps?
Does it take you straight to the BIOS?
If so, can you see your hard disk and CD drive there?
