Paul Mc Auley lists at peema.org
Thu May 1 19:22:22 IST 2008

So....

If I'm going down the shops to buy RAM, a pen drive or a memory card should I
be asking for a multiple of 1.0737GB? And how do you express the bandwidth of
your home Internet connection?

Ultimately the trouble is people are treating non-SI units as if they were SI.
Despite our best intentions it's part of human language, which deforms
horribly with use.

People are like that.
