Well kubuntu is a second hand product compared to ubuntu and their
gnome love. I know i am going to get the stick for this but hey.

On another note, my mother has been running Mandriva since 2003 and I
have upgraded her computer to every new version each year. Her system
never broke. Granted she uses only web/mail and office tools but
still...

Last, my x31 laptop is on lenny too and I confirm that it rocks, been
on it since January and never encountered a single issue with it.
