What colour issues have you been having?
gnome-terminal supports 256 colours, and one can
customize the palette of the standard 16 colours.
konsole supports 65536 colours, though I'm not
sure whether that is readily available on OpenSolaris?
I wrote a few notes on terminal colours here:

Also gnome-terminal binds quite few keys, so
again could you describe what issues you're having?
