Ive never tried to use sound with rdesktop, but I suspect what you need
to do is ensure that /dev/dsp works on the local machine, which is done,
as you noted, with alsa oss emulation.
Do you hear sound if you do something like `cat /dev/urandom > /dev/dsp'
If not, thats the problem. Once that works, sound with rdesktop should
hopefully work. Likely candidates for it not working are alsa oss
emulation not installed/working, or something keeping the device busy -
like esd. lsof|grep dsp may help to show if thats the problem.
