[ILUG] OpenOffice going crazy

[ILUG] OpenOffice going crazy

Kevin Philp kevin at cybercolloids.net

I am running OpenOffice 2.2 on Ubuntu-fiesty and it is giving a few
problems with a new presentation template. In a moment of madness our
company decided on a new template for presentations. One was knocked up
on Microsoft Office and I got the job of putting it on our Ubuntu
network. I started from scratch rather than just saving the MS template
but I have hit problems. The template seems to have grown to about 2MB
in size and when I use it my CPU usage shoots up to 100% and it runs
very slow. The main difference I can see between between the new and old
version is that the new version uses several colour and transparency
gradients - would this grind OpenOffice to a halt? Its only two slides!
