Apologies in advance for being slightly off-topic here, but it is vaguely
related to Linux.
I am interested in hearing if any other ILUGers have played at all with
OpenSolaris, and if so, what your impressions of it are - and particularly
have you hit any gotcha's in using it for a long-time Linux user.
Having installed it on an old PowerEdge as an experiment, I can honestly
say the PowerEdge/OpenSolaris combo will probably replace my
Netgear/Infrant ReadyNAS (Debian/SPARC box) as my primary fileserver.
I am absolutely blown away by the design, feautres and functionality of
ZFS - for me, it is an absolute game changer, and the sooner Linux gets
something comparable in btrfs the better!
