Well, the thing is all ISPs have had IPv6 network allocation for quite
a long time. The problem is they have done some testing with their
equipment and routing but there is no real effort for the end
customers. There was an IPv6 in Dublin back in January
(http://www.ipv6.ie/summit2009/) where you can actually view a few
videos : http://www.ipv6.ie/summit2009/agenda.html
>From what I recall, eircom did some testing but had nothing official
in the pipeline for end customers. BT talked about 2010 as a vague
possibility for some customers but again, more a maybe than a might
be. I recommend the presentation from Nick Hilliard which was quite
refreshing from a sysadmin/it manager point of view. It was the first
presentation where there were a few real life facts about IPv6 being
more a cost and more work than v4 since you need to make sure all your
hardware is compatible and that it will require new filtering where
you apply some on v4 already.
I am with Smart Telecom myself and they do not provide v6 for end
users (but they do upon request for business customers). A matter of
time I guess, 'til then, it's good old SixXS for me.
