Hope to upgrade "within the home lan"
after Christmas.

Planning to go to Gigabit inside the house.
Looking at:

adsl2+ modem
http://www.elara.ie/products/detailsfull.asp?productcode=ECE1322810
Router
http://www.elara.ie/products/detailsfull.asp?productcode=MME0712031

As there may be some electrical wiring nearby.
Would shielded cat6a be the way to go, for the storage.
use wireless on the rest (kids upstairs youtube etc..)
