Just as a use(full | less) aside...
I bought in a bunch of the cheapest PCI Express graphics cards I could
get which were fanless for the purposes of quietening down some
workstations. Settled for Asus EAH3450
Whats interesting about it is they've moved from the dual DVI + svideo
to Dual DVI + HDMI straight off the card, hadn't seen that before.
Supports resolutions up to 2048 x 1536. No idea on linux
compatibility, wasn't a requirement.
Looked at doing the TV as a monitor thing before for a construction
company, was looking for a large panel at high res that they might be
able to display construction drawings "life size" on screen without
having to print. As Niall points out with the pixel size comments, the
quality just isn't there for that kind of application, we ended up
going with large apple displays as the best fit.
All depends on the application really.
