I have an LG 32" and it works quite well. Things to bear in mind:
- The dot pitch on TVs can be much lower than with normal monitors.
I.e. you may not want to sit close to one. Usually not a problem
though with TV.
- That tends to imply wireless keyboards and mice. Maybe it's just
me, but they tend to suck a bit - mice particularly (least, I have
the same responsiveness problems with both a cheap wireless mouse
and a more expensive logitech)
- I don't know if it's a general TVs-suck-at-video-standby thing but
My LG doesn't do it.
If the Linux box shuts off video, the LG displays a "No Signal"
message - arg! Also, it turns off audio for a few seconds when
video goes off - highly annoying, as the only reason the Linux box
shuts off video, other than sleeping, is when I'm using it to play
music.. This means you have to remember to use the TV remote
to adjust volume, not the computer remote (the latter would wake up
video, and lead to another blip a few mins thereafter).
For sitting on the couch watching DVDs, youtube, movies, etc.. it's
great.
regards,
