Since you mentioned that you are not very familiar with linux, I suggest
looking at the following link:
http://en.opensuse.org/Serial_modem

The settings given by Nigel above should still be valid, but you might
find it much easier to use the system graphical configuration interface
rather than trying to us wvdial directly.
