regarding "Fair Use" and "Unlimited"
Generally Smart, Eircom etc "unlimited" unless it's a business
package with no "Fair use" clause, then "Unlimited" means very big
, but we decide when you have taken too much. Not really unlimited.
I'm suggesting in my opinion that when they get the IP+date/time
reports under the new scheme, they would be strange indeed if they did
not look at the usage. They will want to convince the Rights Holders
that this works as the alternative *might* be monitoring equipment in
eircom. We know how expensive that would be and how utterly unreliable
an approach compared to actually peering to capture a real p2p IP or
running honey pots etc.
All the other ISPs have been watching closely. I'm not saying this is
right or wrong, but I think this is a quite clever move on eircom's part
as ultimately there is no transparency for the rights Holder. They
have to take eircom's word for it that offenders are eventually
cut off. IRMA/RIAA will never get the personal details.
So how do eircom create statistics to prove this is a success?
