Checking some kind of error on 82GB of disk can take a long time,
particularly with lower speed laptop hard drives. First thing I'd do
would be to try again, and leave it at least overnight. See if there are
errors that can be found.
Hopefully, something in the error messages should give you a clue as to
how to progress further.
