The nearest thing to this at the moment is the oss barcamp,
http://www.ossbarcamp.com/. Luis de Bethencourt Guimerá
<http://luisbg.blogalia.com/>
was going to give a talk on editing in blender and multimedia stuff. That
seems to have changed to a Ubuntu community talk. I had planned on bringing
my camcorder for a demonstration on how to connect via firewire.

The new version of kdenlive (ie not in the ubuntu repos) is claimed to be
very good. It may be easier to work with. http://www.kdenlive.org/ I am
currenlty taking the lazy way out and editing in avid on windows (I know I
am a hereitic) If there is sufficiant interest maybe a multimedia group can
congragate at a POTD and swap knowledge? Dont have a laptop so I couldn't do
much at that either.... Any best I can do at the moment. Tad
