i went the Ubuntu route with mine, aiming to get as far as the "netbook
remix", but gave up when, as mentioned, codecs and usability began to
degrade.
Putting it back to factory spec is quite easy: just use the included
Linpus CD to make a bootable linpus USB stick and boot/install from that.
It does what is says "on the tin" very well, and once you get rid of the
strange desktop and let xfce shine through, its even quite attractive.
i added thuderbird, gimp, skype, seamonkey, pidgin and realplayer.
if you need more storage, theres always the multi-card slot in the side.
