Position: Linux C Developer
Employment: Contract (preferred but not required)
Location: Dublin, Ireland preferred but not required, remote work OK

The role:
The successful candidate will be required to port an existing Windows NT
application to Linux and (if possible) BSD, Mac, and commercial Unix
systems. The application is in area of distributed computing, databases and
network filesystems.
The system is a fully distributed, peer-peer based storage grid the
features
unlimited scale, unlimited capacity and fault tolerance beyond what is
possible in existing enteprise class storage systems. The Windows code is
in Native API (NTAPI) and therefore almost a full re-write is required.
However the full source code of the original Windows application,
documentation and access to the NT engineers is provided.
Absolutely must have:
- 3 to 5 years of Linux C programming (not C++)
- Network (TCP/IP, UDP) programming
- POSIX threads and thread syncronization
- In depth understanding of Unix architecture and networking
- Some Windows background as well
- Self motivated and working alone
- Ability to find and debug and solve problems on it's own
At least some points good to have:
- Experience of porting WINNT applications to Linux
- x86 assembler, maths
- Windows NT architecture and development
- *BSD, Mac OS X and commercial Unix
- Distributed computing
- Embedded systems
- Driver and kernel programming
- High performance networking
- Filesystems and databases
