Everytime I connect it to Linux/Amarok (regardless of Linux flavour and version), my iPod locks up. Need to press to middle button + Menu to reset it, then I can connect and sync it up again. After that, reconnecting to the system locks it again. It worked fine for several months and that is only recently that it started doing that. I have not unplugged it ungraciously and am not using iTunes to manage it (only connected it to Windows once the first time to format it fat32). Since the device always worked as expected, I have not tried to connect it to iTunes again nor update its firmware.

Alright, made some progress with that. Amarok had an option to restore
artwork, following that when i clicked on "disconnect", it sync'd the
device for a bit. I have now established that the device locks up when
the disk does not spin a all. If i toggle it and scroll through its
content before hand, it works. I have also tried disk mode and
fsck.vfat but with no success.

I realize the problem is rather an iPod one than Linux, but I connect
it under Linux only hence my original question. I think I'll take it
off list.

Cheers,
Steph
