Erm
Its been years so apologies. Mediaportal is what I was running on a shuttle PC at the time. XBMC was what I was running on the xbox. Just thought of that. Might dig out my old xbox to use as a media server too and mess around with it. :P
[So basically, I don't think my previous mail was much help - didn't think it , or remember it through]

I did this years ago, but instead of installing linux, I used avalaunch which replaced the xbom dashboard, and then mediaportal as the media server (it had everything I eneded built into it)
I would imagine mediaportal, if it is still around, would be something like you are looking for.

Subject: [ILUG] Linux on an XBox
Afternoon,
I'm looking at using an XBox as a media server. It's a common enough thing to do however I've a small extra to try to include.
It would be great if the media software ran in the Gnome Desktop manager and was GTK based so that I could run Orca with it.
Importantly though, it has to look good and flashy and it has to be incredibly easy for a non-computer person to use.
--> MY girlfriend will not be happy if she's presented with a Gnome desktop when she wants to play music.
Any suggestions would be very appreciated.
