[ILUG] RE: Multipath software on SLES

[ILUG] RE: Multipath software on SLES

Hamilton, David David.Hamilton at redstone.ie
Thu Nov 12 15:51:36 GMT 2009

The silence could best be described as deafening.....
The issue was resolved without a single email being received from anyone on the list.
Has no-one on this list ever had any issues with multi-pathing?
It seems that any question about the most minor or niggly little detail gets hundreds of responses, but someone with a genuine technical issue gets ignored.

Kind Regards

David

Subject: [ILUG] Multipath software on SLES

I am trying to SAN attach a server, but when I enable the multipath software, I lose access to some of my internal storage.
I am running SLES 9 on Dell hardware, and am trying to attach to a HP SAN.
The machine boots up fine and all of the internal drives mount up fine using labels.
When I enable boot.multipath and multipathd, the partitions stop being visible/accessible.
If I try to manually mount them, I am told that it is already mounted, or the mount-point is busy.
I have tried blacklisting the relevant devices in the /etc/multipath.conf file, but the tools don't seem to be heeding my request.

Kind Regards

David
