[ILUG] server doesn't have the decency to crash ...

Hi guys

I have a box that is running karmic server ed and that has hot swap
drives with 1 as normal drive and one as failover. The thoery is that
the drives get rsynced occasionally and if the first one fails the box
crashes and comes up to the second one.

In praxis what happened is that since the drives are in a hotswap sata
cage we nicked the system drive and it doesn't crash. But no shutdown
command works anymore, they either throw an i/o error or do nothing at
all. So far tried:

reboot
shutdown
halt
init 6
init 0
runlevel 0
runlevel 6

any ideas?

we have been discussing building a ram disk and putting what is needed
in there. but what?

thanks

Bernhard
