I've been using gparted (live CD) to move and resize partitions today, and it has failed on one of them. It has somehow lost the file system on the partition I had /var mounted on. That is, it complained of a problem moving/resizing and subsequently the display reported the file system as unknown rather than ext3.
Everything substantive is backed up in one form or another (web site, databases, in particular) but it would be preferable not to have to restore it manually. Is there a way of re-establishing the file system (ext3)? I mounted it immediately after gparted told me it no longer knew what file system it was, but after rebooting it no longer worked.
Mounting fails with a bad block error, and the backup blocks don't seem to work.
All suggestions welcome!
