[ILUG] Migrating from Netware

[ILUG] Migrating from Netware

Niall O Broin niall at linux.ie

I have a customer who was (and still is) a Netware user, and they also have some Linux servers. Netware is now EOL and they are considering their migration path. They actually are not very complex Netware users, so really A. N. Other Linux distribution with Samba will probably do, but I need to look into and report on the alternatives.

The path that Novell would like them to take is Open Enterprise Server, which is basically a SuSE Linux variant. While I have a lot of experience with SuSE going back years, I've never used OES. Have any of you used it, and if so, what did you think of it?

Niall
