[ILUG] broadcom and recent kernels

It would seem that the Broadcom STA driver has some problems when
power saving on the interface is enabled. I was suffering
horrendously long and varying ping times to the access point at home
after upgrading to Linux Mint 10 (kernel 2.6.35). If power management
is turned off on the interface as follows:
sudo iwconfig eth1 power off
then short stable ping times are restored.
If power management is turned back on then the situation reverts back
to what it was.
This applied to my Dell mini 10 and it might also apply to other hardware
