>> No 2 son now has a Dell Mini 10v running Ubuntu. It's ideal for the job,
> except that wifi has disappeared from his account. Wifi still works if
> you log into any other account first, and dmesg shows a bunch of device
> initialisations (including Bluetooth and the wifi card) happen that
> don't happen when we log in to his account first.
>> I've tried a few brute force approaches like renaming ~/.gconf and
> ~/.gconfd in case they contained any perverse settings, but to no avail;
> his group memberships don't seem to be the problem either.
>> Google gives me reams of info about wifi problems with Ubuntu and/or the
> Dell Mini, but none that seems remotely applicable to this situation.
>> Any suggestions?
create a new account. if wifi works, save #2 son data, delete his
account and make new account for son. in 10 minutes he will thank you.
