[ILUG] Linux Laptop to Wireless (Cisco cert, Java?)

[ILUG] Linux Laptop to Wireless (Cisco cert, Java?)

I don't have much proper (technical) details,
but how can one connect to a wireless lan,
where a cisco cert is checking to see if you have
the relevant Anti-Virus, and MS security updates installed.

The MS laptop users say the required AV are McAfee, Norton or AVG.
And the cert scans the laptop for Win SPx

Macbook users have managed to connect.

The wired part of the lan is Netware (4x) controlled.
Laptops can only be connected by wireless.

This is so I can use Fedora at school, when I get back.
Tech services basically said "thats life."
