I've gone through quite a few video editors, but moved to using Open 
Shot movie editor almost exclusively now. It uses ffmpeg under the hood 
so is very powerful and stable. As for creating DVD or capturing, I 
think you'll need to use something specific for these. I use devede for 
DVD creation - it's very simple.
