[ILUG] Dropbox and mercurial

Two questions:

Has anyone used Dropbox on a headless Linux box?  Can it be used
without using X11?

I'm looking at playing with mercurial.  However Ubuntu hardy has
version 0.9.5 and macports has version 1.5.2.  Should I create the
repo with the 0.9.5 and then pull from it with 1.5.2?  Or will the
reverse work?  I'd rather not build and maintain my own package but
will if mixing versions is really painful.
