[ILUG] Adobe Reader 9.4

[ILUG] Adobe Reader 9.4

Thanks Darragh,
Yes, the screen is going blank for a second or two and then going back
to the login. Bottom line, I can live without Adobe Reader, as you say
there is lots of choice in pdf readers out there.

Thanks.

Sounds like an X server crash and restart. Could possibly be just the
session crashing, but no way to tell based on what you've given. If the
screen is going blank for a second or two before going back to the login
greeter (GDM/KDM) then it's probably a X server crash followed by a
restart. If it's quicker than that it's probably something further up
crashing and triggering a session restart.

Have a look at the contents of the following files after this occurs:
/var/log/Xorg.*
~/.xsession*
/var/log/gdm.log

Not sure about the location or naming for some of those files above as I
don't use Ubuntu.

Somewhere among those files you'll hopefully find something that will
point you in the right direction. The session and gdm log files are
probably you're best bet assuming it's just the session crashing.

In the mean time the obvious advice is to use something like xpdf to
workaround it.
