Having worked with an educational NGO, and seen MS redefine 'educational
body', for the purposes of screwing more money out of organisations that
were dependent on a couple of decades worth of macros and proprietary
file formats, I'd be wary.
Their pricing of Office in the developing world, where a school pays the
same per PC as in EU doesn't make me feel any happier about them.
We (eventually) persuaded top-brass to start a slow and painful move to
open source that will be worth it when the journey is complete. Alas,
not everyone has the ability to do this - either due to lack of
technical know-how, or believing FUD.
MS have some great engineers and researchers. The protection-racket
scheming of their lawyers and accountants pisses me off though.
