I was setting up Nagios for about 130+ hosts, with about 2k checks. Since I was setting it up from scratch and want to give the other people in the IT team ability to modify stuff, the cfg file route wasn't really an option (Other admin users have no Linux experience, and hate cfg files / cli).
I looked at groundwork, but decided I didn't like it (cant remember why). Then I found centreon, and I have to say I really like it. I was also going to check out FAN (fully automated nagios) but just decided to go with centreon.

Nothing much extra to add, just that I've also used Nagios and found
it very good.
I also used the Nagios firefox plugin with it to keep me updated with
any alerts.
Had not heard of Centreon might check it out.
