We are looking into using some linux desktops for development/validation and I have run into an issue, I was hoping someone could help with.
We have a NIS domain (for Clearcase) and an Active Directory domain (for windows). I have created the desktops with smb/winbind/ads authentication and everything is working rosey.
However for Clearcase, the system should be using NIS. My problem is the user exists in ADS with UID 2325, and NIS with 535, and with GID 1570 v GID 502. The ADS IDs are not used in NIS. NIS stops at 849:600
Does anyone know of a simple way to map these? Or failing that, I can create a new user, and create the same UID in NIS, however the Primary GID would still need to be mapped. Is there any way to get NIS to see the two different GIDs as the same group?
Any suggestions/thoughts are more than welcome.
Regards
Brian
