FWIW, at first (1993) I used H.J. Liu's root/boot floppy images at the
tsx-11.mit.edu ftp site, because I hadn't yet heard about either SLS or
Slackware -- and then compiled everything else. Fetching source code by
walking through the snow, uphill both ways. And you were _grateful_. ;->
