Mick,
The 6th edition of Learning Perl has just been released if you don't mind a
paper book (or ebook for that matter). It's very good, and also covers
things like Unicode which can be tricky.
I can second Modern Perl as well. The problem with all the tutorials
floating around on the web is that they are often very old. Modern Perl
suggests the current, "best practice" ways you should do things.
