Got it fixed :)
I tried out *linux-image-2.6.32.15-1-grsec *and it failed to boot, so I gave
up on that. I went back to *linux-image-2.6.27.29-4-grsec* and used gradm
version 2.1.12 seems to be working okay.
Just out of interest and on the topic of hardening. What do you recommend
for partition mount points?
At the moment I'm using the following:
/ errors=remount-ro
/boot nodev,nosuid,nouser,auto
/home relatime,nodev,nosuid,rw,nouser,auto
/tmp nodev,nosuid,nouser,noexec,auto,rw
/usr relatime,nodev,rw,nouser,auto
/var nodev,nouser,auto,rw,noexec
