[ILUG] Postfix partially working

 Hi,

 I've been trying to set up Postfix email with virtual mailbox domains.
 I've had some success - i can get mail through from hotmail but from my 
 private email ollie at eillo.org i get SMTP 550.

 It didn't work for hotmail either untill i found a permissions related 
 error in mail.log.

 I "fixed" it by chmoddinf -R 777 relevant parts of /var/mail/vhosts/.

 So two questions:

 - What are normal permissions here - what user needs access?
 - What could cause hotmail to work and my own email to return an SMTP 
 550 (no recipient here by that name)?
