If you actually did that, then the files should be, indeed can only be, owned by your user. But perhaps you did it as root, or with sudo? And did you really unzip the files, or was it a tar archive? If it was a tar archive, and you extracted it as root, then you would have got the UID and GID from the tar file, which might explain their being a UID and GID which are not locally used.
