[ILUG] Linux Server in the cloud

[ILUG] Linux Server in the cloud

Hi All,

I'm setting up a cloud server which I'll run all sorts of bits and bobs on including httpd, mysql, php, oracle, DB2, etc. I want to use this for customer demonstrations so it's needs to be decent specs (esp with oracle+db2 munching up all the ram). It may also host a website, but mostly it will be running a few apaches, tomcat and the DBs mentioned above. Something like 200GB disk, 6GB RAM, and a quad core cpu. OS-wise, CentOS or something would be fine. And I need a fixed IP with ssh access. Uptime needs to be 24/7

I've been checking online and the prices vary wildly. Also, I get the impression the cheaper ones are going to only give me a little slice of CPU, I don't want to be ripped off with the more expensive ones. Could people give me a ballpark figure of what they are paying, or better still recommend some providers for quotes?

BTW I've already checked into putting real hardware in our office, but the upload it just way too slow to be practical, and we don't have alternative broadband options unfortunately.

Cheers,
Brian
