Hi all,
Just a heads up on the hacker / maker space (mentioned in a previous thread
sometime ago) starting in Drogheda.
We have now been kindly given a couple of rooms within the historical
governors building at Millmount in the town centre for meet ups and
workshops. Both rooms are kitted out with net access, a whiteboard, power
supply and of course coffee.
Last Saturday (26th) we had our first successful meet, greet and hack at
Millmount. We brought along our own projects, equipment and different
interests and over coffee and a few hours managed to put something together
(in this case we hooked an arduino, linux, python and twitter to control a
small fan). After which we ran to get the last bit of sun :-)
The core group is still small so this is a shout out to any linux users
in Louth/Meath or even further afield who may be interested in getting
involved. Its a chance meet up and to work/teach and share various tech
related skills. The next meeting at Millmount will be in a week or two, by
which time we hope to have our website and name for the space sorted out.
So if you are interested or just curious our contact details are at
http://hackerspaces.org/wiki/Drogheda
(or of course just reply to this mail directly)
All the best,
Jon
