[MLUG] trying to get registered on Red Hat

[MLUG] trying to get registered on Red Hat

I'm having persistent problems trying to register my Red Hat Linux 9 that I
installed from CDs (not boxed). I have a user name & password, and I show
up as having 1 Demo entitlement, with an indication that it is "inactive"
(not checking in). I want to check in--I want to update my up2date and
other software, but I can't get further. When I try going through the
registration process (again and again) I get error message 31 saying this
system doesn't have any entitlements. It says I can report this to
bugzilla but doesn't give me a website or email address. The only thing
that stands out is that sometimes I'm asked to enter a product code with
numbers (---- ---- ---- ----). I don't know where to find this code, and
maybe this is causing the problem with not being able to complete the
registration process. Where do I find my product code? If I used CD
copies does that mean I have no product code and I therefore can never
update with rpm?

Also, though it was suggested I update up2date before updating other rpm
software, it didn't say how I do this. I went to the download site and
downloaded the 2 new versions of up2date (one for gnome and the other
generic I guess), I didn't know how to know which I needed. Then I opened
the downloaded file (seemed like just one came through) but I never got the
impression anything happened after that, other than the icon now showing an
open box.

I'm sure there's a solution out there. . .

Catherine
