Hi Mark and others,
We meet on 1st Friday of the month, so Friday 4th of April. 7:30pm, Paddy
Clarke's pub (private room off to the right), Dublin Rd.(same street as the
big cathedral, about half a block before you come to the cathedral, on the
left hand side--it's a one-way street), Longford town.
We're open to meet elsewhere, too.
I'd like to see us organize a linux info day at
?Athlone ?Longford ?Roscommon, maybe get folks from the Galway LUG
involved too.
Main thing is to get a venue for a day or an afternoon for free with no
insurance hassles where we could have several computers hooked up, send out
press releases to the local papers (I'm willing to help with the press
release part). Have different parts of the room for, e.g., intro to linux,
newbies, more experienced, networking, a business corner with somone who's
using linux for their office, etc.
Would there be a Tech or VEC or 2nd or 3rd level inst. where someone has
contacts? For educational use like this we should be able to find something.
We talked about this a little at the last meeting, May seemed like it might
be good. Someone suggested we could follow this up a month or two later
with an install day.
any thoughts?
Catherine
