Hi Everybody,
Please start using this list and sending any usability issues by email to midlands at linux.ie -this year's New Years' Resolution is to be more user focused, so any issue to do with usability (as opposed to the policical nicities of doing so) will be to the forefront... so if you can't do something, drop a note to the list and see if someone has an answer for you, and if it's not a simple answer, let's kickstart our monthly meetings again on the first Friday (as per last year) starting February.
FYI -the reason I think we should defocus on the policical aspects are because there is now an organisation called the Irish Free Software Association with a website at http://ifso.info/ which addresses these issues, and just so you know, I'm a member and helped draft the voting rules, so that it would be worthwhile for members to join in any part of the country, negating the need to deal with such issues within our LUG.
That all means that we can be more focused on scratching the itches of people who simply 'cant do stuff' which is really what the MiLUG was originally intended to achieve. I would encourage all computer users -not just subscribers to this list, to join the IFSO, primarily because the objectives of the organisation will benefit ALL computer users, but particularly those using Linux who are at risk from the Digital Rights Management (DRM) and Patents legislation being proposed at European level at the moment.
So, scratch your itch, mail the list with your problems, and if they're not solved by the first Friday, come along to the meeting (in fact do that anyway)... see you then...
