[MLUG] Multi-desktop operation

[MLUG] Multi-desktop operation

Hi *

I tried to get a setup running on debian sarge where I have
Mutiple Grafic cards, Mices and Keyboards runnung on one machine.
So that one Computer can be used by 2 or Users.

But there seams to be a big gap on up to date information about that.
Here is what I found out so far see sources at the end:

Linux 2.4 and 2.6 both have no nativ support for running multiple
Keyboards independent *2.

I would have to compile my own X and Kernel with the ruby patch.
I like to avoid to compile X with my nasty slow machine.

There doesen't seem to be any debian packages that would give me the
patched ruby kernel version and there doesn't seem to be a distry that
supports multiple session on one machine eaven so Suse supports the
linux console group project.

The Linux Console Project looks like its frozen since last year november.

Oh, and there is a OO scripting language called Ruby too!!!

If anyone of you know about multiple VT or VC support in future
Kernelversions of up to date Howtos infos whatsoever how to get mutiple
Desktop support please let me know. I don't know jet if there will be a
support for it in future kernels and neither if there is any planned
support on X.org.

If one of you uses BSD I would be pleased to here if BSD gives nativ
support for that.

Thanks. Helge...
