Hi All
I hope I'm asking early enough to recruit some volunteers for Software Freedom
Day.
It's taking place in September, and last year, I had to do all the CDs myself.
This
time, though, things should be simpler, and if I get some interest I'll look
at getting
a stand in Longford Shopping Centre. Maybe someone else can look at hitting
a high
priority SC in another (or other) town(s).
Happens to be just my luck that http://softwarefreedomday.org/ isn't responding
to me as
I open it in another tab, but AFAIK Canonical will sponsor 100 Ubuntu CDs for
participating groups. I'm not going to hang around for confirmation from the
SFD site
now, but from memory, this is true.
Really, all that's needed is a few people to explain about free software, last
year (and
probably this year, sigh) I'll look after the blurb to be handed out on the
day.
Just that last year, probably my own fault, I left it really late sending this
probe and
ended up the walls trying to get everything organised.
Incidentally, I met someone today who's not know to us but was VERY interested
in the
whole idea, and I'll look to canvas him for help as the day approaches.
If you know someone similarly partial, please let them know. Help could come
from
unexpected quarters, if only the word is out.
Looking forward to some positivity back from this. Please send thoughts/replies
to the
group. SFD site still not responding to me but AFAIK it's Saturday 10th Sept.
All the best
Mel
