[ILUG-Social] [still OT] AOL bashing..damn bait

[ILUG-Social] [still OT] AOL bashing..damn bait

oh no..

we are onto my second favourite topic (other than bad disco music of
the 1980s)..

i think john and zeris knows my view on AnotherOnlineLuser isp..
hmm, looks similar to antionline..another great boil on the arse of the
internet...

but serioulsy,

there was a scam in the states where people got landline spam..
asked to give them (the scammers) information on their phone bill,
account etc.

i'll try and dig up a url...

ah good ole' AOL..

"What virus do you want today?"

Not wanting to start a AOL bashing fest (oh go on..but just bring it to
social@) TBH they are a shower of loosers.

OK granted you need to have an isp for joe user to use, but come on...
i know people working in aol (no john, not you) who are as clueless as the
(l)users..

and for some reason they become SOO fanatical about aol...the great aol,
who owns the biggest network worldwide? who has the fastest connection
speeds( well maybe for the employees, but certainly NOT for the
customers...), biggest number of local pops..(oh, yea, like cork is the
nearest pop to waterford? get real!)

some of these virii were even written by AOL employees.
now what does that say for "employee loyality"? nada really..

Sure i'm sure its nice to work for a company which has a worldwide
impression (see: strangle-hold) on internet services..but come on..with a
customer base like that, jeez i would be ashamed to say i work for them..

i can say, i never have OR never will use AOL's "services"...

although saying that they do use a good search engine...
(which they seem to have "o\/\/n3d")

ok, you can resume the normally sheduled broadcast.
