Hi Paul , 

I can confirm this , having seen the SGI catalogues. AFAIK 
you need at least one of the faster o2s with 512 Mb plus to get any joy
out 
of it . IRIX is stable but I don't reckon that most of the SGI range are
particular fast or great value for money in their base spec. 
The Sunday Times had a neat competition at one stage to win a 10 grand
sterling system as a home pc. Every since then I have been kinda fixated
with the idea of having an SGI machine >;-)
