[ILUG-Social] what are we doing here

[ILUG-Social] what are we doing here

I'm sorry but I am a taurus so I am boycotting your list.
Seriously though , the idea of having more tags in the subject lines
will only become another bone of contention as people might just type them
incorrectly , screw up people's mail filters and we'll end up having a
similiar discussion about tags as we are having about mailing lists.
Something along the lines of "Lets have a different kind of tag for this
kind of comment as I don't want this rubbish in my mailbox and I want to
be able to effectively filter it all out , thanks very much.

I think that we definitely need another list but I don't think that we
need another help list as most of us are pretty busy and none of us are
getting paid to provide technical support so the only way that people will
bother to read the list at all is if everybody posts help questions to it.
IMHO this will result in total crap being posted to the main list as
it will have diverged further from its original role as a mailing list for
people who want to share problems and solutions for using LINUX.

Talk at linux.ie could reasonable adopt the same kind of content as
talk at microsoft-sucks-and-I-want-a-real-os-btw-watch-buffy-last-night-.org

You get the idea. A total free for all as there isn't any remit for the
list beyond talking about stuff..
