Who made them the politicians? Us as a country. In a democracy, the people
get the government they deserve, no more, no less. The current air of
outrage in this country because of all the scandals is ridiculous, the
reason this was allowed to continue and didn't come out sooner (despite
many politicians and journalists knowing about it much of it) is because
the sheeplike Irish public continued (and probably will continue) to
reelect the establishment at every opportunity (by-elections don't count).
The politicians like most people just did what they could get away with,
